PHILADELPHIA, October 1, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Technological impact, a 501 (c) (3) that enables communities and nonprofits to use technology to better serve our world, today unveiled its new job training center, located in the former B&O Station, a historic building in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. The nonprofit organization purchased the 3,400-square-foot property with the support of a $ 1.25 million grant from Barclays US Consumer Bank. Located along the Riverfront, the new ‘Barclays Supported Technology Impact Opportunity Center’ will serve as an ongoing training facility for Tech Impact’s ITWorks program and act as an administrative office for training staff.

A historic property
Tech Impact spent several months searching for a new location before choosing the B&O station building. Originally designed by an esteemed architect and leader of the Civil War. With the support of the Barclays grant, Tech Impact invested in an interior renovation, equipping the building with new carpet, paint and signage, as well as new student desks and tables designed by local apprentices from the Challenge Program.
Technological impact on Delaware
Based in PhiladelphiaTech Impact serves more than 300 organizations in the US with managed IT support. Since 2012, its ITWorks workforce training program has had a presence in Wilmington in various places of temporary training.
